Tree Removal in Covington & Northern Kentucky
Whether it's a dying ash you've been watching for years or a healthy tree in the wrong place, we remove it safely, cleanly, and completely.
Not every tree removal is an emergency, but every removal needs to be done right. A grown tree can weigh tons. A misjudged cut can come down on a house, a power line, a fence, or a person. NKY Tree Pros removes trees of every size across Covington and Northern Kentucky, with the equipment, training, and insurance to do it safely the first time.
When tree removal is the right call
- Dead or dying trees — especially ash trees killed by the emerald ash borer, which now dominate dead-tree calls across NKY
- Storm-damaged treesthat are no longer stable, even if they haven't fallen
- Diseased trees that could spread infection to nearby healthy ones
- Trees too close to structures where roots, branches, or future failure threaten your home, foundation, or roof
- Trees in the wrong place — over a driveway, blocking a view, dropping debris on a roof, interfering with renovation or landscaping
- Trees with structural problems — large cavities, major decay, dangerous lean, root damage
The emerald ash borer problem in NKY
If you have a standing dead ash tree on your property, you're not alone. The emerald ash borer wiped out a huge portion of the region's ash population over the last decade, and dead ash is now one of the most common removals we do. Standing dead ash is genuinely dangerous — the wood becomes brittle fast, limbs fall without warning, and entire trees can come down in a moderate wind. Don't wait.
Our removal process
- Free on-site estimate. We come out, look at the tree, the access, and the surroundings, and quote you a fair price in writing.
- Permits and utility coordination if needed. We handle any utility line drops or permit requirements before work starts.
- Safe, controlled takedown. We use bucket trucks, cranes, and climbing rigs depending on the tree's location. Sections come down in controlled cuts, not free falls.
- Complete cleanup. Brush hauled off, trunk wood removed (or stacked on your property if you want it for firewood), site cleaned.
- Optional stump grinding. We can grind the stump below grade so the spot is ready for grass, landscaping, or just to be done with it.
Why hire a pro instead of DIY
Tree removal is consistently one of the most dangerous things people try to do themselves. A chainsaw plus gravity plus a heavy living thing under tension equals serious injury or death — every single year. Add power lines, structures, and an uncontrolled fall direction and the risk multiplies. Professional removal isn't expensive compared to a hospital bill or a destroyed roof. We're licensed, insured, and we do this every day.

📞 (859) 363-5822Frequently Asked Questions
+How much does tree removal cost?
It depends on the size of the tree, where it is on the property, and how complicated the access is — a small tree in an open yard is very different from a 70-foot oak between two houses near power lines. We give free, written estimates so you know the price before any work starts.
+Do you remove the stump too?
Stump grinding is a separate service we can bundle with removal. Most clients add it so the spot is fully usable. We grind below grade and grind down the visible roots radiating from the stump.
+Will you cut down a healthy tree?
Yes, if you've decided it needs to go. We'll tell you honestly if we think keeping it is the better call (sometimes pruning solves the problem), but the decision is yours. We never pressure-sell removal.
+Do you handle large trees near houses or power lines?
Yes, this is most of what we do. NKY's older neighborhoods have a lot of big trees in tight spots. We use cranes when needed and coordinate with Duke Energy on line drops when required.
+How fast can you schedule a removal?
Routine removals are usually scheduled within a few days to a couple of weeks depending on the season. Emergency removals are dispatched immediately, 24/7.
